I am a British-born photographer living in Spain since 1983 and now naturalised. I began photographing in black and white with a Zenit in 1978. My first major series documented Bilbao in 1983 after the huge floods that year. I then moved to Madrid, where I focused on the city’s daily life and “La Movida”, a countercultural movement during the Spanish transition to democracy after the death of dictator Franco. During this period I was mainly using outdated film and and paper, developing everything in the bathrooms of the apartments where I lived.
Despite work, I never stopped photographing, and in 2005, received a boost in the form of a Nikon D50. For the past five years, I have dedicated myself full-time to photography.
